Interim U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro clarified that a clerical error led to the full sealing of a crypto fraud docket linked to MoonPay executives and Donald Trump's meme coin circle. Prosecutors had only requested shielding a company name, not the entire case file.

The scam involved a Nigerian impersonator who allegedly defrauded victims of $250,000 by posing as Steve Witkoff, a TRUMP inauguration committee co-chair. MoonPay, a fiat-to-crypto gateway connected to Trump's ventures, appears to be tied to the victims.

This incident highlights the growing intersection of political figures and cryptocurrency ecosystems. The rapid unsealing suggests heightened sensitivity around high-profile crypto cases involving public figures.
